WHAT IS A RODENTOLOGIST

Tracey Clarke of Cavy Haven is a fully qualified Rodentologist, trained by the British Association of Rodentologists and Cambridge Cavy Trust. She is able to offer specialist health care and advice, full health checks and treatment of many common ailments that befall guinea pigs and other rodents.

A Rodentologist is a qualified specialist with extensive in-depth knowledge of rodents:

What can a Rodentologist do?

• A full-body health check
• Clip nails
• Worming
• Bathing
• Grooming
• Skin care – including fungal infections
• Parasite prevention and treatment
• First aid
• Intensive care nursing (circumstances permitting)
• Syringe feeding
• Give injections
• Recognise and treat most medical conditions
• Some minor surgery
• Corrective dentistry – without anaesthesia
• X-rays – without anaesthesia (facilities permitting)
• Refer to a good vet when appropriate

Tracey works in partnership with Northdale Veterinary Practice in Worthing and Lancing and will, when appropriate, refer patients to the qualified vets there.
